Sponsored by Humanities Kansas, The Independence Historical Museum & Art Center, 123 N. 8th St., will host a “Declaration Conversation,” a reading and discussion of the Declaration of Independence on Friday, July 10 at 1:00 p.m. Members of the community are invited to attend this free event which is sponsored by Humanities Kansas. The event will include a discussion, a slide presentation, and short readings that will involve the audience. Refreshments will be available.
The “Declaration Conversation” event is an opportunity to learn more about America’s founding document and its impact on the world during the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The discussion will be facilitated by Dr. Isaias J. McCaffery, a retired history professor at Independence Community College and past president of the Kansas Association of Historians. McCaffery is also President of the IHMAC Board of Directors.
