Meadowlark Lounge Singer & Songwriter's Showcase

  • Independence Historical Museum 123 North 8th Street Independence, KS, 67301 United States (map)

The Independence Historical Museum and Art Center will present the popular Meadowlark Lounge on Saturday, July 25, at 7:00 p.m.  The concept of the “Songwriter’s Round” is at the heart of the evening: a group of songwriters taking turns telling the stories of how their songs come to life, followed by a live performance of the song.  The stories behind the songs are as varied as the songs themselves and allow the audience to share a very personal connection with the performer.

Performers include Emery Birde, a musician from Independence; Gabbriel Woolman from Big Cabin, OK; Isaac Burgess from Tulsa, OK; and Cecil Brown from Grand Lake, OK.  “Each artist brings a unique sound to this event,” said Chris Mitchell, Co-chair of the event.  “These four performers are new to the Meadowlark Stage, and I think everyone will enjoy their distinctive sounds.”

Admission is $20 ($25 at the door) and includes beer, wine, and light snacks.  Tickets can be purchased online at: https://pci.jotform.com/form/261746806541057, or come into the museum 10-4 Tues-Sat. to pay with check, cash, or credit card.  The QR code, which is on the poster, can also be scanned.  It can be accessed on the ihmac.org website.

Sponsors for the event include Midwest Real Estate, Mr. Reid’s Workshop, Magnolia Scents by Design, John Lay Truck and Auto Sales, Sektam Independence, FirstOak Bank, and Independence Heating and Air.   IHMAC hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. For more information call the museum at 331-3515
